Why I Watched it: It’s a horror movie and it was on Netflix, I know pretty slim but that’s the reason.

Random Thoughts: The Suicide Forest is a real place and it’s been in the news recently. I’ve seen a couple of other horror movies that used the forest as their back drop. Obliviously it’s got a lot of stories and legends behind it and it sure would creep most people out, who needs a haunted house when you have a haunted forest.

What I Liked: It build tension pretty well and of course it has tons of atmosphere and dread the build up a decent backstory to set the tension up.

The acting is fine, I kind of liked Taylor Kinney cause he’s kind of playing a nice guy who might be lying but he pretty much plays it down the middle he has to be charming but also have an edge that us as the audience is unsure of.

What I Didn’t Like: This is a pretty much a boring and slow moving film. The one thing plot wise is why it was twins, besides the whole I would know it in my bones if she was dead plot line having them be twins does nothing plot wise, now it could be it’s cheaper cause one actress can play two roles and we know actors like that challenge. The problem also is that Natalie Dormer isn’t great here, neither character is that likable and both seem unstable.

I would like to touch on their backstory, now we see what happens in their past but Dormer lies about it, now what bothers me is we have no idea why she lies and also has she lied to everyone about it, and the whole backstory is the missing twin is the one who’s messed up and the other one has had to bail her out all the time but little miss stable seems nutty as well. We don’t get to see any meat of the backstory and here’s a big problem with the way they tell the story it’s Dormer and Kinney in the forest and we turn it into his he bad or not and really that’s not what the story is about, why did her sister go into the forest, does she want to kill herself. They missed the boat on it and instead of telling with both twins mental state we get this weak ass haunted woods story.

The Forest also does one of my most hated horror cliches, the Good Twin Dormer gets told a bunch of times The Forest plays tricks on you, it’s all in your head and of course she sees ghosts and of course they’re real. Also the fact that the forest is so big and they find her sister’s tent and of course she’ll be right back is so silly and beyond lazy writing I almost turned off the movie. To add insult to injury the ending is not only dumb but a real bad ending as we learn nothing.

Final Thoughts: A boring and cliched horror film, nothing really stands out, nothing really original about it, and also it was scary at all.
