A full 2-minute trailer has been released for the upcoming Doctor Who specials, sparking excitement among fans. David Tennant returns to his iconic role, reuniting with Catherine Tate as Donna Noble to confront Neil Patrick Harris‘ enigmatic ‘Toymaker.’ The official Doctor Who account announced that three special episodes are set to premiere in November on BBC iPlayer in the UK and Disney Plus worldwide.

Joining Tennant and Tate are Neil Patrick Harris, Yasmin Finney as Rose, Jacqueline King as Sylvia Noble, Ruth Madeley as Shirley Anne Bingham, and a posthumous appearance by Bernard Cribbins as Wilfred Mott. Additionally, characters like Beep the Meep and the Wrath Warriors from the comics will play significant roles, with Ncuti Gatwa expected to debut as the Fifteenth Doctor.

All three episodes, written by Russell T. Davies, have unique titles: “The Star Beast,” directed by Rachel Talalay, “Wild Blue Yonder,” directed by Tom Kingsley, and “The Giggle,” directed by Chanya Button. Directors Talalay, Kingsley, and Button expressed their excitement about the scripts, with each episode offering a different flavor and showcasing the versatility of Doctor Who.

Kingsley’s episode is described as a challenging and exciting experience, drawing inspiration from films like “Aliens” and “The Thing.” Talalay’s episode explores the expansion of the Doctor Who universe and its transition from classic family-oriented themes to a more expansive narrative. Button’s episode is hailed as an expansive and empowering story that presents the director with thrilling challenges.
