Atlee Kumar’s film “Jawan,” starring Shah Rukh Khan, continues its strong performance even after 20 days since its release. Surpassing the global milestone of Rs 1,000 crore, it’s now poised to cross the Rs 600 crore mark in the domestic market.

Priyamani, a prominent actor in the film, expressed her delight and the unique significance of “Jawan.” This marks her second collaboration with Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan, following her appearance in a dance number in Rohit Shetty’s “Chennai Express” (2013), alongside SRK and Deepika Padukone.

Priyamani recently shared her perspective on how South Indian film industries address crucial social issues in their movies compared to Bollywood. She emphasized that conveying a message or portraying reality doesn’t require active involvement in politics. Priyamani highlighted the consistent commitment of South Indian film industries to tackle such subjects. She pointed out that the issues explored in “Jawan,” including farmers’ suicides, the importance of doctors, and the oxygen tragedy, draw inspiration from real-life events. She noted that the film’s resonance with audiences arises from its willingness to confront these commonly encountered topics, stating, “It was high time that somebody spoke about them.”

Originally from Bengaluru with ties to Tamil Nadu and Kerala, Priyamani commended the southern film industries for their dedication to exploring diverse subjects and their vital role in storytelling. She suggested that while people in northern regions may have faced similar issues, they might not have been as open to discussing them. Priyamani expressed hope that “Jawan” would encourage more open dialogue on these concerns in the northern regions.
