During an interview with SiriusXM NPR (as reported by Music News), Keith Richards expressed the band’s commitment to their musical legacy, stating, “There’s plenty more stuff left over from ‘Hackney Diamonds’ to work on. There’ll always be another one until we drop.” He acknowledged the need for a brief respite but emphasized their unwavering dedication to seeing The Rolling Stones through.
Richards added, “We can put our feet up for a little bit, but you know. You’re into this thing all the way. This is what we do. We’ve gotta see this Rolling Stones through.” Despite nearing 80, Richards remains enthusiastic about performing, citing his love for it and how it challenges him to continuously evolve his playing style.
The legendary rock band’s 24th LP, ‘Hackney Diamonds,’ marked their return after 18 years, securing the Number One spot on the UK charts and Number Two on the Billboard Top Rock charts.
NME’s four-star review lauded the album as “an absolute barnstormer,” describing it as “very enjoyable.” The review suggested that if ‘Hackney Diamonds’ concludes the band’s illustrious career, it would be a fitting and natural end.
Ronnie Wood, the band’s guitarist, revealed in an interview with NME that there’s a second song featuring Sir Paul McCartney, held in reserve for future releases. Wood mentioned that McCartney played on two tracks, and with about 23 songs recorded, only the first 12 made it to the current album.
In a noteworthy achievement, The Rolling Stones became the first act to Top 10 albums in each decade since the ’60s. Their latest album debuted at Number Three on the Billboard 200 chart on October 31, solidifying their status as the artist with the most top 10 albums, totaling 38.
As a surprise, The Rolling Stones performed an intimate show in New York at the 650-capacity Racket venue in Chelsea, featuring a surprise encore with Lady Gaga performing ‘Sweet Sounds of Heaven’ alongside Mick Jagger.
