Taylor Swift shared the exciting news on Monday, revealing that her “Eras Tour” concert film will be available for streaming on her birthday, December 13. Responding to fans’ hopes, Swift assured that the extended version of the film would include additional songs not featured in the theatrical release, such as ‘Wildest Dreams,’ ‘The Archer,’ and ‘Long Live.’ The on-demand rental will be accessible in the US, Canada, and other soon-to-be-announced countries, marking a celebratory treat for fans to enjoy at home over the holidays.
The announcement followed Swift’s final 2023 tour date in Brazil on Sunday night, where fans were anticipating news, even chanting “Reputation” in the hopes of a potential announcement regarding “Reputation (Taylor’s Version).” While no new album news surfaced during the show, the prospect of streaming the “Eras Tour” at home may help ease any disappointments.
Swift has not disclosed the international territories for the streaming release, but consideration may be given to the fact that only the Americas have been visited on the tour so far, with more than half yet to unfold in other countries in 2024.
The film will be available for rental on December 13 through various services, including Apple TV, Vudu, Prime Video, Xfinity, Google Play, and YouTube, as listed on Swift’s website.
Fans initially expressed consternation over the omission of certain songs from the tour’s setlist when the film premiered in October. However, many anticipated an expansion for home viewing, and Swift’s announcement has now confirmed this. Despite the addition of ‘Wildest Dreams,’ ‘The Archer,’ and ‘Long Live,’ the film will not encompass every song performed during the tour, leaving out nightly standbys like ‘Cardigan’ and ‘No Body No Crime.’
Swift continues her successful streak, with the “Eras Tour” film grossing $178 million in the United States, setting a record for concert films. Concurrently, “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” achieved impressive first-week numbers, marking a career-best for Swift, and she enjoyed back-to-back No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 with ‘Cruel Summer’ and ‘Is It Over Now?,’ a newly recorded Vault track added as a bonus to the “1989” remake.
The “Eras Tour” is set to resume on February 7 with a four-night stint at the Tokyo Dome in Japan.
