As the DC Universe gears up for multiple projects in 2024, James Gunn has addressed the latest casting rumors surrounding The Brave and The Bold. Despite the fact that Gunn’s foray into the DC Universe is yet to commence, the co-CEO of DC Studios has actively utilized his social media platforms to maintain excitement and anticipation among the audience. Gunn has also taken to social media to clarify and dispel rumors that gain traction online regarding various DC Universe projects.

Despite The Brave and The Bold movie lacking a confirmed release date, speculations have circulated suggesting that DC Studios is in the early stages of casting its interpretation of Batman. Responding to inquiries about these rumors on Threads, James Gunn addressed the legitimacy of the theoretical scenario, providing further insights into the timeline of the DC Universe.

In response to Gabriel Mars’ question about whether “a new actor is about to be cast for Batman,” Gunn acknowledged that he frequently receives this question and dismissed the rumor, stating, “It’s totally false. We don’t have a script yet.” The rumors surrounding The Brave and The Bold began circulating last week, suggesting that DC Studios was initiating the casting call for Batman. The film, directed by Andy Muschietti, the director of The Flash movie, is reportedly in the writing phase, although the screenwriter’s identity remains unconfirmed. Gunn, however, has disclosed significant details about The Brave and The Bold, confirming the live-action introduction of Damian Wayne, Bruce’s biological son. The narrative will delve into Batman’s grappling with unexpected fatherhood as he discovers Damian’s existence.

During the announcement of their upcoming DC Universe projects, Gunn and Peter Safran indicated that Bat-Family members would play a role in The Brave and The Bold. In this iteration of the DC Universe, where numerous heroes are already established, characters like Batgirl, Nightwing, and Red Hood are expected to be present. While Bruce Wayne’s age has yet to be determined, Gunn has hinted in previous comments that he will be a few years older than David Corenswet’s portrayal of Superman.

Gunn also recently confirmed that Batman will not feature in Superman: Legacy, heightening the likelihood of Bruce Wayne’s debut being reserved for The Brave and The Bold. However, there remains the possibility of a subtle tease through the Arkham Asylum TV show if it precedes The Brave and The Bold. The exact moment of Batman’s introduction into the DC Universe, whether in The Brave and The Bold or earlier, is yet to be unveiled, leaving it to time to dictate the Caped Crusader’s debut.
