Renowned actor Vijay has initiated the establishment of his own political party in Tamil Nadu. As per reliable sources, Vijay has assumed the position of party president. A key team member informed NDTV, “We are currently in the process of registering the party with the Election Commission of India.”
Approximately 200 members of the party’s general council participated in a pre-registration meeting. The party’s General Secretary and Treasurer have been designated, and a Central Executive Committee has been formed. The council has empowered Vijay to make decisions regarding the party’s name, registration, and entry into electoral politics.
Regarding the timing of his political debut, a source mentioned, “He will enter politics preceding the 2026 state polls in Tamil Nadu.” On the potential name, the source added, “It will undoubtedly incorporate Kazhagam, aligning with Tamil Nadu’s traditions.”
Viewed as the next Rajinikanth of Tamil cinema, Vijay, with a filmography of 68 films, has harbored political aspirations for over a decade. Engaging his fan clubs in various charitable and welfare activities, such as free food distribution, educational scholarships, libraries, evening tuition, and legal assistance, he has made significant contributions.
Recently, Vijay organized a program, constituency-wise, to honor and felicitate students who excelled in public exams. He advised students to “read about leaders like Ambedkar, Periyar, Kamaraj. Take what’s good and leave the rest.”
Vijay, whose father is the celebrated film director Chandrasekhar, is known for addressing sensitive and crucial public interest topics in his films, earning him a dedicated following in the state. Some of his films have also taken controversial stands, targeting governments over the years.
