Disney’s New Head, David Greenbaum, Secures Bruce Springsteen Film Rights: Scott Cooper to Write and Direct

Less than two months into his tenure, David Greenbaum, the newly appointed head of Disney live-action and 20th Century Studios, has made a significant move. The announcement reveals their acquisition of the rights to the Bruce Springsteen film “Deliver Me From Nowhere,” with negotiations underway to cast Jeremy Allen White in a leading role.

Under the banner of 20th Century Studios and Disney, the film will delve into the backstory of Springsteen’s iconic 1982 album, “Nebraska.” Notably, the acclaimed filmmaker Scott Cooper, known for his work on “Crazy Heart” and “Hostiles,” will both write and direct the production.

Jeremy Allen White, known for his performances in “The Bear,” a Disney-owned Hulu series, is in talks to star in the film. The project boasts a formidable production team, including producers Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Eric Robinson from The Gotham Group, along with Scott Stuber, former chairman of Netflix film.

With production slated to commence in the upcoming autumn, anticipation is building for this cinematic exploration of Springsteen’s musical legacy. Jon Landau, Springsteen’s long-serving manager, expressed excitement about the adaptation, praising the selection of Scott Cooper to bring Warren Zanes’ revered book to life on screen.

David Greenbaum’s swift and decisive actions since assuming his role in late February underscore his commitment to driving compelling content and shaping the future of Disney live-action and 20th Century Studios.
