“Who sent you?” “You did.” Few lines in cinema are as instantly recognisable as that exchange from Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and it’s returning to the big screen to mark the film’s 35th anniversary.
To celebrate the milestone, Studiocanal and Fathom Entertainment have released fresh trailers ahead of a new 4K theatrical re-release. First released in 1991, James Cameron’s groundbreaking sequel raised the bar for science-fiction cinema, combining revolutionary visual effects with thrilling action and an emotional story that continues to resonate with audiences.
This time, the unstoppable Terminator, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, returns in an unexpected role as John Connor’s protector rather than his hunter. Joining him are Linda Hamilton, Edward Furlong and Robert Patrick, whose performances helped cement the film’s legendary status.
The anniversary screenings begin in late August and continue into early September, giving audiences another opportunity to experience one of cinema’s greatest action films on the big screen in pristine 4K. Unlike the 3D re-release that celebrated the film’s 26th anniversary in 2017, this presentation focuses on showcasing the original film in stunning high-resolution quality.
More than three decades after its debut, Terminator 2: Judgment Day remains one of the most influential blockbusters ever made. From its unforgettable practical effects and pioneering CGI to Brad Fiedel’s haunting musical score, the film still delivers an experience that feels every bit as powerful today as it did in the early 1990s.
For many fans, it remains a near-perfect action film—packed with iconic moments, spectacular set pieces and endlessly quotable dialogue. If you’ve never experienced it in a cinema, or simply want to relive one of the greatest sci-fi adventures ever made, this anniversary release is the perfect excuse to save John Connor all over again.
