Starring: Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi, Bhuvan Arora, Jaswant Dalal, Sameer Kakkar, Raashi Khanna, Kay Kay Menon, Amol Palekar, Chittaranjan Giri, Zakir Hussain, Saqib Ayub, Saurav Chakrabarti

Farzi is a 2023 web series in Hindi Language, Available on Amazon Prime India. The story revolves around a boy Sunny and his friend Firoz and Sunny’s illegal business of fake money printing. The story is all about How he enters this world, how he survives in this world of crime, and where he reaches at the end.

Farzi is made by Raj & DK, they had made an Indian show named ‘ The Family Man’ which was considered one of the best tv shows in India. The Family Man was appreciated for its darker plus comic twists, great action, incredible takes, and beautiful shots. They did that all in Farzi too, Farzi is very intriguing from its first episode, how society discriminates between poor and rich and this discrimination keeps growing with time. How middle class survives and is kept away from opportunities of being rich.

The show is about Sunny, when he is stuck in poverty and lost all hope of getting over it, he starts to print fake money. An inquiry officer who is eager to catch every fake currency racket and struggling with his personal life, the best part about Farzi is that it is balanced it doesn’t show the villain dumb or the protagonist too clever. Whole show we are hooked on who is over whom.

We can not refuse to appreciate the man himself Kay Kay Menon, the way he exerts facial expressions and struggles with English puns, breaks our laughs even in serious moments. Farzi is a quite good thriller watch that has a good story, great direction, and a good climax. There are so many surprises in between episodes which lead to point that Raj & DK are planning a TV universe and frankly speaking, we all are craving for that.

There are many Good Things in Farzi, but also some negatives, Vijay Sethupathy is a South Indian actor and he is O.G. In his industry, but in this series when he speaks Hindi, somewhere it looks forced and gives the feeling that they cast him to attract the audience of his industry but apart from language Vijay Sethupathy looks badass as a spoiled and drunkard cop. The role of Rashi Khanna was fantastic and her beauty does Glamour justice with the show, also her role is so powerful and important in the story.

The best part about the show is Chemistry between Sunny and Firoz, and that is what Raj &DK has been doing since the last web series, in The Family Man there were Srikant Tiwari and JK, and here in Farzi it’s Sunny and Firoz. Their Comic one-liners, dependence, care for each other, and friendship look very satisfying and worth watching. The Character of Sunny’s Grandfather is played by Amol Palekar and is a morally strong and honest columnist, his honesty gave him respect but couldn’t provide enough money and it motivated Sunny to enter in path of crime.

I personally enjoyed this show, and I suggest everyone should watch Farzi at least once, it may give you Breaking Bad vibes but that’s how stories are and both are different in their territory. We are Watching for the Second Season.
