How I got into movies: Living in the country as a child. No one else my age around for miles. Used to get to the cinema about once a year – VHS was a godsend!

What I love about movies: Escapism, creativity, originality, symbolism, or just a cracking story, well-told.

Favourite Films: The Empire Strikes Back, Alien, Aliens, Jaws, E.T., The Silence of the Lambs, Withnail & I, Clerks, The Shining, Poltergeist, Goodfellas, Psycho, Rear Window, The Haunting (1963), Pulp Fiction, The Terminator and T2 – those are just off the top of my head – I could go on all day.

Favourite Actors: Steve McQueen, Johnny Depp, Harrison Ford, James Stewart, Cary Grant, Amy Adams, Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Denzel Washington, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Jodie Foster.

Why I Started Writing: I had a head full of stories. So for about 25 years I’ve been writing them down as novels, short stories, screenplays and songs. I started writing movie reviews on my Facebook page just to let my movie-loving friends know what I thought of certain films. I enjoyed doing it and more and more people started reading them.

Favourite Genres: Horror, sci-fi, fantasy, super-hero, thrillers, action, comedy, adventure, mystery – I’ll really watch most things. Except period dramas. They bore me to death.
